The Pleiades is an open cluster about 440 light-years away, easily visible to the naked eye and stunning in photographs. The blue nebulosity wrapping the brightest stars is an unrelated interstellar dust cloud lit by reflection. This image was captured uncalibrated (no darks, flats, or bias frames) from a Bortle 7 sky with the DWARF 3.
