M5 is one of the largest and oldest globular clusters in the Milky Way, packing around 100,000 stars into a sphere 165 light-years across. A multi-exposure HDR strategy was used to preserve fine detail in the compressed core without saturating the central stars. At 92 minutes of total integration the image resolves individual stars from the outermost halo into the intermediate ring.
