M51 and its companion NGC 5195 are an interacting pair of galaxies roughly 23 million light-years away in Canes Venatici. The image combines RGB data (L-Pro filter) with dedicated Hα signal from the L-eNhance, gathered over three consecutive nights for nearly 13h 35m of total integration. The HII regions strung along the spiral arms glow red in the Hα layer, revealing active star-formation zones that are invisible in broadband light alone.
